This webinar from United States Agency for International Development (USAID) hosted in partnership with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) is the next webinar in the Cybersecurity Building Blocks Webinar Series.
USAID is committed to combating cybersecurity challenges in partner countries that aim to undermine government legitimacy. In addition, USAID has published a Digital Strategy to encourage investment in digital ecosystems. Cybersecurity is critical to USAID Digital Strategy’s goal of achieving and sustaining open, secure, and inclusive digital ecosystems. As digital technology use expands, it is important to mitigate the growing vulnerabilities to stabilize the ecosystem and prevent cyber threats.
Cybersecurity risk touches almost every aspect of an organization’s operations and so all organizations, including power utilities, face some degree of cybersecurity risk. Cybersecurity Risk Management is critical to the operation of the energy system. Risk Management is a time and labor-intensive process that requires organizations to identify and prioritize their risks and risk appetites, making Risk Management a complex endeavor. Risk Management protocols help utilities identify risks and then evaluate and decide how they will reduce risks to a level appropriate to their business objectives. Having a cybersecurity risk management strategy focused on avoiding, assessing, and mitigating risk will help provide structure and continuity to business processes and decision making for utilities.
This webinar will explore risk management protocols, how to assess an appropriate level of risk, and how to develop a risk management strategy and allow subject matter experts from Deloitte, NREL, and CariSec Global to discuss their experiences and key considerations for cybersecurity Risk Management in the energy sector.

Dwight has over 14 years of experience in Information Risk, including Enterprise Data Risk and Information Risk as part of the External Audit and 7 years of experience in Enterprise Systems Management. He is an Assistant Manager in Risk Advisory at Deloitte, leading Barbados' Cybersecurity and Data Privacy service offerings. He is a certified information systems auditor and holds a Masters in science in cybersecurity. Dwight is also President of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Barbados Chapter, an international non-profit for cybersecurity professionals dedicated to educating the public and its members about technology risks

He has 21 years of experience in Information Systems Security, ICT, Telecommunications with specialties in Policy Development, IT & Security Governance, Information & Cyber Security Risk Management, Enterprise Defense & Security, Cybersecurity Incident Management, Malware & Attack Technologies and Security Operations. His complex skills, knowledge and experience assisted many organizations such as Internet Services Providers, ICT Service providers, Telcos, Banking, Government, and Governmental Organizations in their development and services evolution.
Tami Reynolds is a project manager and lead for NREL's Secure Cyber-Energy Systems Group. She provides technical leadership in building out and marketing the Distributed Energy Resources Cybersecurity Framework tool to industry and federal partners. She works closely with partners to develop a deep understanding of applying the Department of Energy Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model and National Institute of Standards Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework to their renewable and distributed energy systems for the evaluation of cyber and physical security. Reynolds provides leadership in developing the Distributed Energy Resource Risk Manager, an NREL tool that will address the NIST Risk Management Framework with a focus on distributed energy resources. She works closely with chief information officers and chief information security officers of private industry partners to conduct cybersecurity assessments in the electric sector, and she provides support to the US. Agency for International Development in developing cybersecurity programs in developing countries.
